Heat Transfer

Heat Transfer occurs in three ways:

Conduction - the transfer of heat through contact from warmer substance to cooler substance.

Convection - the transfer of heat in a liquid or gas due to changes in density.

Radiation - the transfer of heat as infrared light (no matter necessary to carry heat).

Recent questions that your children should be able to answer:

Explain how thermos bottles keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold.

Molecules In Motion

MOLECULES IN MOTION

How does heat affect matter? What's going on with the atoms and molecules? How does heat affect the density of a substance?

These are just a few of the questions your child should be able to answer!

In class today, we added drops of food coloring to water of different temperatures.

Ask your child which one was the hot water and which one was the colder water and have them explain the differences!
